we’re watching this in my english class but i have to document how dogshit this movie is. it’s nothing like the book at all, and mario lopez as david just KILLS me. it only gets half a star bc it gave me a good laugh with how bad it was.

i chose to read Killing Mr Griffin in the seventh grade for a book report and i remember really enjoying it, to the point where i ordered a copy of the book and had my father pick it up from the bookstore for me.
it’s been over 10 years since i’ve read the book so i can’t be specific on accuracy, but i definitely picked up on some stuff that they changed. the biggest for me was the change in Mark’s character; i remember him being a lot less popular, creepier, and more sadistic. the movie gets his manipulative nature right, but i don’t understand the class president choice. and i also don’t remember Mr Griffin being all that bad in the book. strict for sure, but not at all like he was in the Shakespeare scene; i remember him more like how he is when he’s talking to Susan before the guys kidnap him.
its not a bad movie considering it was made for TV and probably had a super low budget. but i wish they’d make a higher budget adaptation for this novel and keep it more faithful to the original story.
