“were you going to ask me about this? if i didnt ask you?”perfectly captures the feeling of built up resentment and loneliness within a relationship. both are thinking about the wrongdoings of the other but never truly discuss it. there is also this weird tone that is carried throughout the film where its as if sophie and greg dont really know each other, despite the fact that they plan on getting married.
there were many scenes where their thoughts overlapped, yet neither of them choose to speak on it. you can almost feel the silence that they are sharing in the car that greg loves so much. + the shot of the loveless bed and simply the word “no” was complete melancholy.
sophie and greg are really trying to love each other, but they simply cannot stand one another.
“no sex last night.”
