God where do I even begin?
This movie is one of the most devastating but beautiful films I have ever seen. Breaking up Dan and Candy's relationship into three well written chapters, heaven, earth, and hell was a creative touch that accurately portrayed the stages of a relationship between two addicts. Heath and Abbie's chemistry and acting were both phenomenal, specifically during the withdrawal scene and miscarriage scene. I also thoroughly enjoyed Abbie's break down scene where she narrated her side of their love story through a poetry lens, by painting her thoughts onto the walls with nail polish, extremely overwhelming as is their relationship “You’re a fucking poet." The closing scene absolutely destroyed me, "I was waiting for her to come back. Because she was everything. She was everything to me." Abbie reenters Dan's life just as easy as she did the first time. The two kiss while the opening scene replays in Dan's head and flashbacks are shown on screen. He reminisces of times where Abbie was innocent, happy, and healthy. Times before Abbie was dragged into a life she barely escaped. Ultimately, Dan's love for Abbie was too strong to let her back into his addict lifestyle and decides to let her go.
