welp, i finally got around to watching the forgotten remake of one of my favorite films of all time.
i went in with an open mind but unfortunately, it cannot live up to what made the original so good. audrey hepburn and gregory peck's chemistry, line deliveries, the scenery of rome, the costumes, score, and wyler's directing style is all what makes the original magical.
while i knew a tv film wouldn't recreate that, this sadly feels like a made-for-tv film (which it is). it was interesting to see how roman holiday set in the 80s would be but these actors are sadly not even half as good as hepburn and peck. didn't help that half of the film just felt like they were trying to recreate the scenes without putting any thought. why was this film even cut down by like 20 minutes?
unfortunately, this film is a chop and i hope this film never gets remade ever again.
