A pleasant surprise, beautiful color grading and photography, interesting and quite promising direction—qualities that are elevated by the performances of all the actors, especially Lewis Pullman as Miles and Cynthia Erivo as Darlene, in addition to a young and promising Cailee Spaeny.
I was sincerely very impacted by the ending of Miles Miller's character; I found it powerful and... sincere. The flashback of him in the war praying for the souls of all those he had killed and also for those of his comrades is very impactful, even though I enjoyed it a lot thanks to Lewis Pullman's performance. And of course, the confession scene... Jesus Christ, how beautiful the sacraments are... I am sure that God, in his great mercy, heard the true repentance of his son, even though it wasn't a priest who administered it.
Brutal and merciful.
