After the astonishing “The Cabin in the Woods”, Goddard continues his career with “Bad Times at the El Royale”. While the script could have been polished a bit more, it's undoubtedly an original and effective film that provides a thoroughly entertaining experience.
I have to admit that Goddard is talented, as he wrote and directed an ambitious work that aims high, and although it doesn't quite reach the masterpiece it could have been, it's still great. The characters are well-developed and endearing, the setting with the sets and cinematography are wonderful, the script is unpredictable, and the non-linear structure greatly enhances the story by creating more suspense.
An underrated gem, and my goodness, what a wonderful cast! Each one of them is fantastic, and damn, what a great soundtrack!
