the first time I watched this film was in theatres, in 2011. I was one. my mam told me she brought me in with her because on certain days you could bring in your baby and they would sell tickets for cheaper and have the lights on and the sound a bit lower.
I rewatched this film many many many times from the ages of 5 till about 11. If you asked me between those ages, what my favourite film was, I would tell you either descendants two or rango.
you could guess the amount of nostalgia im getting right now after all of these years is quite intense. nostalgia can come in all forms, often sad and reminiscent but this movie brings the most joyful and lighthearted nostalgia to me.
This film is ugly, beautiful, disturbing, tender, wildly hilarious and insanely original. The writing in this film is just pure pure genius, not a single quality I could dislike, maybe it’s nickelodeon cornyness at times but oh well.
I think rango is the absolute coolest character ever, he’s so addicting to watch and soooooo funny. my childhood film that ages like fine wine and will never get old, I’ll show this to my children and my grandchildren.
(my dad has about a hundred nicknames for me, many are film references, but one of them is beans)
