❝I am not your Elizabeth. I am no man's Elizabeth. And if you think to rule, you are mistaken.❞
❝I may be a woman, Sir William, but if I choose I have the heart of a man! I am my father's daughter. I am not afraid of anything.❞

I've always had a fascination with Elizabeth I ever since I watched the Horrible Histories sketch of her conversation with Cecil about getting married over a video call. Elizabeth is a beautiful, biographical picture of the queen who ushered in the Golden Age, and at its helm is my icon Cate Blanchett, whose elegant and spirited portrayal of the Virgin Queen was difficult to tear my eyes off of. The cast was full of fantastic actors, from Geoffrey Rush to Christopher Eccleston, and even baby Daniel Craig, though I have to say that I'm not a fan of Joseph Fiennes' performance here. I absolutely loved the lush, dark aesthetic created by the rich colours and deep shadows, and the costumes and sets were simply divine; I would give an arm and a leg to try any of Cate's outfits and looks in this film. After seeing this, I definitely have to watch the sequel, and finish Elizabeth's story.
