I think most can relate in having family, close friends, or even family of close friends who are struggling with addiction.
It’s truly awful because everyone suffers. The addict is in constant pain, the family is constantly in fear of the worst, and everyone hurts watching their love ones hurt regardless of where they stand in the addict relationship.
The pain, anxiety, anguish, and grief are portrayed so wonderfully by Chalamet and Carrell. You can feel their suffering on all levels and the human instinct to fight for relief of pain.
Tears were shed.
