It's been a few days since i watched this. I wanted to get some distance from it so i could better write a review.
Obviously as you can tell by my ratings loved this movie and I'll just go ahead and say it right now, you should really watch this. It's great and it deserves attention. However despite me doing so, i wouldn't recommend this to everyone, cause it is very very uncomfortable.
The movies plot is very simple. A young girl is the victim of sexual assault and spends the night trying to do something about that. The movie then follow her and her struggle to file a report.
If i remember correctly the movie consists of 9 long takes(though i might be wrong on the number) Now all these long takes are extremely well executed. They never feel like they're only there to be cool, they are already very subtle and well done long takes. This also really adds to us connecting with the main character as we always follow her in these long takes.
Visually it looks great, not only with the long takes, but everything else looks good too. The acting is amazing. Every character is great and so is every actor.
Now as i already said the movie is extremely uncomfortable to watch. Not because it's explicit or even show the assault. The uncomfortable part is watching this frightened young girl try to go up against s world that doesn't want her to succeed. Almost every character introduced just makes her struggle harder and it is very hard to watch a times.
Even when I'm heavily invested in movies i never have very audible or physical reactions. Even watching funny comedies I'll only laugh s few times. But this movie really made me audibly react. I think the only other movie that has made me so mad was the mission.
There is one moment towards the end, that i won't spoil, where i loudly said something (trying to be vague so i don't spoil)
Overall this is a great movie, really well made and extremely under seen. However it is very uncomfortable and infuriating, but it should be, cause the story and situation is extremely upsetting. And what is even worse is that this isn't even unrealistic. This is what actually happens some palaces and that is not only depressing it is also just wrong.
