The Appleseed franchise has always been a curiosity of mine since I started watching anime, likely due to its awesome character design. Too bad this film ends up being your garden variety police procedural with cliche sci-fi elements.

The intrigue picks up in the final 20 minutes, and it has some worthwhile action sequences, but otherwise this is a bit of a nothingburger.

It was cute. It’s a perfectly fine 80’s robot anime similar to Genocyber or M.D. Geist. I enjoyed it but I don’t know if I’d ever watch it again. I’m looking deeper into this, is Appleseed a franchise? there’s like 5 other movies after this what the helllll.
