a group of little fascist soldier men annihilate difference in a small town, replacing color and life with death, repressing creativity, and so on. then, a jester saves the day. some really jawdropping stuff in here, like when the jester makes a fascist turn red and grow a gallows from his back, then uses it as a swing.

crazy how a film about fighting fascism from 1966 is still so relevant today
the animation is really fun, and the use of sound effects really struck me - so unique, creative and impactful !!
i especially love the juxtaposition of colour/lack thereof as an allegory for oppression
without sounding too kitsch, i have always said that whilst oppressors can take our rights and limit us, they cannot take our joy - our colour, if you will - and that is part of how we fight back against the fascists, we must resist
