Gemini Man: 4 stars
- Will Smith is a phenomenal actor, sure he built his career by being charming, but that doesn't mean he lacks sauce, quite the opposite. He's so good in fact, I see him as myself, me looking like him, in my dreams. But in this film, his acting wasn't the best, I mean Mary Elizabeth Winstead looked like she was putting a whole lot more effort than him. , but the plot really saved it entirely, I think it would have probably been a mile better if the visuals were dark gritty. It felt very over the top with its visual effects use but the deepfake/de aging was very good. The background always felt flat.
- No way in heck this film wasn't a superhero film, the amount of visual effects, especially in that middle part fight scene with Brogan's younger self, those fast and hard punches, I doubt that even THE Will Smith could do those.
- Watching this, made me realise how great a young Smith would have made for a great Dwayne Taylor, the Black Thrasher, we all know that Smith is handsome, can play both superheroes and super spies/secret agents.
- Clive Owen, he's a pretty damn good actor, he played the villain so good, he seemed like the good guy, he was so rootable. There were only three people in the beginning, in the 2000s, that had the potential to play James Bond, it was Daniel Craig, Clive Owen, and Henry Cavill. Imagine if it was Clive that was Bond, I wonder how different Craig's career would have been, sure Cavill would still have been Superman and play Bond adjacent roles
- I wonder if this film was a success. I really loved the zoom in effects on the characters face, the constant slow mo and constant sped up shots. That shot where Smith jump crouch a motorcycle and the incredibly fast fluid punches, ooh I loved it.
- Sure the deepfake/cgi in the ending was a bit janky, but one sin doesn't ruin everything.
- Ang Lee is a director with the most interesting crazy filmography I've ever seen.
