watched the Hong Kong/Jackie Chan recut with the added Jackie reshoots and original theatrical Cantonese sound mix. it’s got the same skeletal structure as the American cut (obviously) and even though it’s a bit of a mashup of two conflicting director visions, i think it works! Jackie cleaning up and tightening the fight scenes and making them longer is great, taking out the nudity and some of the crasser American slang makes this feel like a Jackie movie with a bit looser directing. there’s some really great choreography and some insane stunts, the story isn’t half bad either. I liked the added subplot i thought it was fun and cute and classic Jackie. his character has a harder edge than usually found in his movies which is pretty neat!
i didn’t hate the original cut but if you can find this version, i definitely recommend it!
