At one point I genuinely thought the stepmother was her sister, and honestly, that confusion says everything about the experience. It’s probably one of the most mindfuck horror films I’ve watched, and even now some parts still unclear for me. What makes it work is that the horror doesn’t come from jump scares but from atmosphere, repression, and emotional decay, giving the film a heavy, intimate weight. The acting is strong, and the script is impressively creative (maybe even too creative) but that excess is part of its unsettling charm.
