Sadie froSt (who you may remember from that spandau ballet video for ‘gold’) is his witty one-liner Irish best friend, playing hard & disenfranchised to mask her inner turmoil.
The chief of police is made to be a sympathetic character, who just wants everyone to behave until he just stops caring who gets killed, and then we’ve got sean pertwee as a low level drug pusher getting kids hooked on pills in exchange for stealing high quality goods like cd players. Oh- a blonde mullety sean bean is in it ! Plus jonathan pryce, jason isaacs...marianne faithful!
Ultimately it’s about the thrill of the chase going too far, and the boredum of youth with too much time on their hands... or maybe the lack of proper support for poor kids in england? Hard to pin it down really it’s a mish-mash of ideas just like every classic juvenile delinquent film dejour, combined with a hackers-y wardrobe and soundtrack.
