Loved this doc. The subject spends the entire film performing. When he’s not screaming into the TV cameras in his role as a fiery televangelist, he’s putting on his best pout for the documentary crew and genuinely making the viewer feel kind of bad for him. As any good Evangelical televangelist goes, he’s a master manipulator. This constant performance, and Herzog’s brilliant portrayal of the dichotomy, makes this documentary feel more like a narrative feature.
