“the only country that really worries me is the country of germany. i don’t know if you guys are history buffs or not but uh…”

i'm on a norm kick rn so i guess i’m watching and logging all the stand up stuff now lmao. i’ve always really really struggled watching stand up comedy for some reason. well i guess the main reason is secondhand embarrassment but there’s a very very small handful of comedians i can stand (no pun intended) to watch do stand up and norm is easily at the top of the list. he’s the only one i can watch with complete ease, his presence on stage is so different to everybody else and the way he delivers jokes is so specific and unique that it just clicks so well with my brain. i hate watching comedians on stage tell a joke and almost seem like they’re begging for laughs. when norm told jokes he told them for himself, to make himself laugh, so when no one in the audience laughs at a certain thing it never feels awkward because he doesn’t care and neither does the audience, there’s a mutual understanding almost. just so good, what a genius.
