I´m sorry, I don´t know if I don´t understand it, but I hated it. A movie where a gay man falls in love with a woman called by a man´s name and the whole movie they are are trying to find a place to sleep together, because she screams loudly. Is it weird or I´m crazy? Any way, I love Jane.

For its time, Je t’aime moi non plus feels strikingly progressive and original. It portrays the queer experience through a raw story of desire and the impossibility of full alignment. Jane Birkin throws herself into an androgynous role with remarkable fearlessness, embracing uncomfortable scenes that demand both vulnerability and resolve. The film captures the paradox of a gay man’s longing to feel “normal” through an androgynous woman, blurring gender and sexual boundaries in a way that still feels daring. Krassky ultimately cannot love Johnny fully, no matter how much he tries to see her androgynous body as a “bridge” to heteronormativity. Gainsbourg seems to suggest that the need of a gay man to feel normal through a woman is inherently futile; 1970s society allows neither their relationship nor their selves to reach completion. However I still find the ending a bit to pushed and rushed and it left me kind of skeptic about it

Warto tylko, jeśli ktoś jest fanem Jane Birkin…Tylko ona tutaj „daje radę”.

Beautiful film with a weird atmosphere and premise. I love the Edward Hopper looking ass setting with the flat rural landscapes in the middle of bumfuck-nowhere always makes for an engaging film and Jane Birkin is to die for especially in context of this film, lol. This movie explores sexual identity in a way which is very intriguing and before its time. 

Also, very annoying that Letterboxd decided to shut down, but I guess it has helped me to watch a lot of movies today as I haven’t been able to distract myself (my phone is basically useless without LB) also I had to use IMDd, which sucks ass.. so, fix your fucking app LB damn this is like the fourth time this year.

Love the cinematography, the plot and setting is pretty interesting and the themes were really well explored, especially considering when this film was made, very underrated and worth checking out!
