8.7/10 So Heartwarming. Laika studios is a stop motion film company that has made so many childhood movies of mine like Corpse Bride and Box Trolls. All of those I have faint memory of so they will be getting rewatched. I do think I liked Kubo and The Two Strings just a little bit more because when that film gets going it’s genuinely perfect. I really don’t have any complaints on the Missing Link other than the really basic story. There are so many beautiful scenes like the whole third act had me mesmerized. And the scene on the boat where chaos and fights are happening everywhere was so fun to watch. The character named Susan who is a male but wants to be names Susan steal the show here. I do like the characters Lionel and Adelina as you grow to love them as the film goes on but Zach Galifinakis delivers an amazing voice acting performance. Honestly if you want a film that is honestly just fun and beautiful to look at watch this. I don’t get the hate for this at all and the fact that this flopped in the box office sucked. Laika studios is funded by Phil Knight the owner of Nike so I don’t think Laika will stop making these amazing films for a long time no matter if they succeed or not.

Missing Link is a fun, fairly lighthearted film from one of my favourite studios, Laika. The story is pretty interesting, and the voice cast, especially Stephen Fry, did a fantastic job. I can't fault the animation at all, either, and the character designs are nice, but there's something missing from this film. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it lacks a certain special quality that permeates other Laika works like Coraline and ParaNorman. Nevertheless, it's still a good film, and I think it'd go down well with kids who might be scared of darker animated fantasy/adventures.
