seeing as the trailer has finally been released for zach cregger’s adaptation and i’ve been getting more into the games since requiem released, i thought i’d give this a try. i didn’t know much besides the fact it looked like the most faithful adaptation of the games while also being very flawed. i can definitely see both sides, but i wouldn’t say it was super bad.
sure it butchered some of the characters we know and love, like the guy from victorious is here, i thought he was gonna play carlos, turned out that was leon, and he’s a huge mega loser??? maybe he wasn’t the badass he is now in the second game, but he wasn’t getting tossed around and bullied 🥀🥀🥀
i’d say the rest of the characters are good, haven’t gotten deep into the first game yet so maybe i missed some stuff. i did think it was cool how they sort of mashed those storylines together but it did lead to a lot of messy bumps and insane pacing. one of the stupidest things this movie had to offer is they put it in your face YES THIS IS A RESIDENT EVIL MOVIE like the way characters introduced is so silly “i’m jill, jill valentine” or “you’re chris and claire redfield, right?” like we don’t need to get so personal with last names, ALSO IT TAKES PLACE DURNG THE RACCOON CITY INCIDENT WHICH WAS IN THE 90s!!!
hell dawg even the burger from the second game made a cameo 😭… so while yes, this movie wasn’t horrible, it had plenty of iffy cgi, but i’ll allow it cause of covid and all, so and so characters, it also felt a bit tame for a resident evil movie. i thought the trailer for the new one already made a pretty good impression with its mood, this feels like mostly a random zombie movie, but zach has already made it clear there will be more focus on every aspect of the games other than just zombies and that made me really happy. i’m very excited to see how that movie turns out, but right now we have this, and i thought this was pretty good
okay bye
