Feminism at its finest!
I like this movie, and in particular how it tries to break multiple stereotypes, both in favor of men and women. It shows a woman who, against all other people their expectations, actually does a fantastic job in leading the work on a major class-action lawsuit. It is very satisfying to see her stick it time and again to all the people looking down on her, most predominantly her male bosses.
This all comes at a cost however. Her professional succes requires her to work a lot of overtime. This makes that she is emotionally unavailable throughout almost the entire movie, both as a parent and as a lover. And while Erin becomes the emotionally unavailable parent, her partner assumes the role of the caring one, totally swapping the typical gender stereotypes.
Even though I'd say this is a movie with a strong feminist message, it simultaneously suggests that maybe men are not all that bad. This is a narrative that unfortunately seems quite rare in todays society, so I commend this movie for it!
