“When Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from troubled dreams, he had found himself changed into a monstrous cockroach in his bed.”
The movie is a failure in adaptation. The short story written by Franz Kafka is a masterpiece about Isolation and Oppression, this movie fails to convey either of these themes as we spend most of the time with the family so we don’t get to see Gregor’s isolation that much. The way it fails with oppression is that the family is actually nice to him for the most part besides the key story beats that are important in the novel (The apple, Greta turning his family away from him etc) you can see that his family still truly cares for him. It also spells everything out for you so you can’t interpret anything as the narrator tells you what to think and what something means rather than letting you try to interpret things on your own.

It wasn’t that bad probably because I barely read the book

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka would be better off as an animation; even then would it still not have been a good movie. Someone get David Lynch to direct this shit

Worst movie ever. Why in the world would you narrate people moving while they do it and these actors suck.
