At first I didn’t like that much. But I find myself thinking about Chapayev and the film a lot. There’s clearly propaganda, but that’s part of what makes it so ground-breaking, it was one of the first propaganda films. I love some good Soviet propaganda though, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. The use of song was very clever, and the actor who played Chapayev was very good (and looked a lot like the real Chapayev). Chapayev’s last fight was very well done.
