In this film, Rasputin was made into some kind of martyr, perhaps this is partly historically true, but not to the extent shown in the film. As for the execution of the Romanovs, I will put it this way: it was a moral crime. Tsar Nicholas had already abdicated the throne; there was no trial or investigation to accuse him of all the misfortunes of the empire, let alone to kill the entire family. They carried it out so brutally that the remains of tsarevich Alexei and princess Maria have still not been laid to rest, since the church does not recognize the authenticity of the remains, this is madness.
Alan Rickman is simply wonderful and magnificent here. Those beautiful eyes fully conveyed Rasputin’s emotion, it was not without reason they were emphasized throughout the entire film.
I think it would be more interesting if at the time of Grigori’s arrival at the Yusupovs' house, he would dance Rasputin's dance.
