Scientist Dr. Bradford Crane and army general Thalius Slater join forces to fight an almost invisible enemy threatening America; killer bees that have deadly venom and attack without reason. Disaster movie-master Irwin Allen's film contains spectacular special effects, including a train crash caused by the eponymous swarm.

Scarecrow Video Psychotronic Challenge 2025 / 31 Nights of Horror Movies 2025

9. MASTER OF DISASTER: Watch any Irwin Allen offering. “The Swarm”

How could a movie about attacking killer bees be so boring?  How could a movie containing a multitude of high profile actors be so melodramatic?   How could a movie that’s only two hours long feel like it would never end?  And why did I have to pad that by watching it on PLEX which forces two and a half minute of ads every fifteen minutes or so.  Actually, most of the ads were more enjoyable than this turgid, overblown mess of a natural disaster movie.

According to an article in HR published on February 24, 1978, the American Bee Association considered taking legal action against the film's producers for defaming the western honey bee
