This film is an endless cycle of despair, revenge, and utter hopelessness playing in a paradox that we see unfold in every aspect of the film without pause. 

I went in completely blind and I think this film was that much better for that. 

Also from a technical level this film is insane with great raw visual effects and camera work

It’s a slow burn initially but once that river scene hits, you know what you’re in for. No clear cut hero or villain in this revenge story. Everybody has their own motivations. Everybody is a victim and a perpetrator. Park Chan-wook is that guy.
