This documentary was quite reflective, it reiterated how privileged and lucky I am to not be living in a rural village in Iran. The power dynamic between the husband and wives pissed me off just because of how normalised his treatment towards them was. I get he’s doing all the physical labour for his wives but isn’t he suppose to be treating them equally according to his religion?? All I ever saw from Heda was hissy fits and physical/emotional abuse?! I would critique Islam but just blaming the religion takes all accountability both Heda and his mother. Despite being humorous, his mother does not help out at all with this fucked up cycle she talks shit about her sons but then when Heda’s around, she just fuels his narcissistic behaviour by acting all lovey dovey towards him and not confronting his disgusting behaviour towards his wives but what can actually she do? she’s fucking old and crippled.

It just goes back to the power dynamics in Iran and how men just have more authority because of religion and the social structure there. :( I also felt really bad for Ziba she deserves so much esp when she was on the laying on the floor looking lifeless cuz she was supposedly “ill”… no Ziba u were not just ill u were (and probs still are) depressed asf but unfortunately I don’t blame her for being in that state

It would be nice to see an update but honestly things have probs gotten worse for the family and Ziba

As a middle eastern i can say this: hvorfor i alle dager er MENN verdt så mye mer enn kvinner i folks øyne der nede sånn??? Hvorfor er liksom middle eastern menn verdt gull når de faktisk alltid balder i en alder av 20 og har fedme og still in middle eastern standards er mer vært enn en kvinnelig supermodel like???
