I watched this two days ago and forgot to log it. ofc I’m a massive Batman fan, so I thought this would’ve been amazing, and it was… okay. It was kinda boring sometimes, and the dialogue felt a bit iffy. All in all, it’s pretty okay. not a bad movie.

There’s some elseworlds stuff I find fun and endearing and there’s some where I think that it’s lazy and I’ve always thought Gotham by Gaslight would fall directly under the latter camp. I have not read the book, but if it’s anything to go off the animated film, it probably is shit. 

I expected a dark, gothic, moody tone and we get an adventure caper with countless if not endless winks and nods to the mythos. And it’s boring. And it’s grating. 

Picking up your IP and colouring it a different shade only works if the story works, and the IP is translatable. Going by that logic, Batman and Jack The Ripper should go together like fish and chips, but it’s just translated bad here. 

And yet again, Warner Brothers Animation and DC Studios adapting a well known comic and changing it almost beyond recognition. Yawn.
