lots of good stuff in here — genuinely moving, wonderfully structured story, impeccably acted, timely in a way that doesn’t make you want to say words like “important,” franz rogowski is hot and i’d like to have sex with him.   and yet for the second day in a row i have been plagued with narration that felt totally useless to me — perhaps this goes down easier given the literary context + the ultimate revelation of said narrator, and at least there’s enough to chew on overall but…  at the end of the day i just can’t believe we lost another good one to “show don’t tell” :(

I'm not convinced that narration added any depth to the film. Other works I've seen from Petzold were more cohesive, but the film still managed to bring me on board.
