In Italy, the gambler and professor of poetry Daniele Dominici arrives in the seaside town of Rimini and is hired to teach for four months in the local high school replacing another teacher. His relationship with his partner Monica is in crisis and he spends most of the time with his new acquaintances and gamblers Giorgio, Marcello and Gerardo. In classroom, he meets the gorgeous nineteen years old student Vanina Abati, who is Gerardo's girlfriend.

Alain delon plays a angsty sexually frustrated substitute teacher that hates his wife and is super emo and only owns one coat but a plethora of very nice sweaters. He works at some sort of seaside university. And soon becomes enamored by his mysterious withdrawn student. Who happens to be involved with a shady businessman he gambles with. That also seems to manage her as a prostitute/pornstar. Delon falls for her and try’s to rescue her from this life. Leaving his wife and causing a serious unfortunate of events . Culminating in his ultimate death in a car crash(does Alain delon ever survive a movie?) full of dramatic quotes. A captivating soundtrack and beautiful cinematography. This is peak niche European cigarette film.
