In the Fall of 1940, the entire population of Friar, New Hampshire walked together up a winding mountain trail and into the wilderness. Without warning, they left behind everything: their homes, their clothes, and their money. The only clue where they went was a single word etched into stone near the forest’s edge: YELLOWBRICKROAD.

I can’t explain why I like it, but I do - I like this movie. It’s weird, and nonsensical, and nothing is answered, but the journey is dark and psychologically freaky and there’s just nothing like it.
Not to mention I’m probably the only person who watches this film, hears ‘40s music, and pauses the movie to find the music is actually inside my house bc that’s what my husband enjoys listening to.

A very underrated 2010s horror gem. It's an ambiguous, atmospheric and almost lovecraftian look at the concept of the yellow brick road.
Years earlier an entire town disappeared into the woods leaving only one note. Yellowbrickroad. Now a group looking for the answer why goes on the trail. When music starts playing out of nowhere and a murder occurs the characters have to choose to escape or embrace the road.
The story is very interesting and the atmosphere is great. When the music plays you feels an omunis feel and it's great. I really like how they incorporate Oz into the world too even if they don't completely mention it by name.
My one complaint with the story is that after the group splits up it loses some tension and pacing the first part sets ups excellently.
The ending is pretty good too especially the final shot being quite memorable. The atmosphere is really the best part for me along with the music. It keeps you engaged and wondering what's going on and what's going to happen.
