I don’t know why there’s so many low ratings for this. This is an absolute delight. Adorable, meditative, and every frame is breathtaking. Like a series of illustrations in a children’s book where you can fill in the words yourself, or just simply enjoy how beautifully composed these images are. The kids look like they want to talk the entire time, especially the boy, and I love that. He showed so much self control and poise for the camera. It almost reads as a quaint little piece of direct cinema, with cues from Kore-eda and Ozu riddled throughout.
