It’s interesting to me that the main takeaway a lot of people get from this is that it’s saying the world needs to be feminized and the “in-betweeners” are bad. That’s not what I got from it at all. I saw it as an ideology being forced onto these flawed people who are then convinced it’s good after it’s already shoved onto them. I see Tanguy as a tragic character who’s been abandoned by their friends and I don’t know how you could see all that and say the movie meant for it to be a good thing. This is clearly shown by this group of now women murdering a bunch of dudes right away 😭. 

Not saying there isn’t valid criticisms to be had here in the way the message is delivered and I think you could interpret some of this as being anti trans (and I’m not personally experienced so I can’t argue too much) but it’s just strange that so many people on here seem to believe that the movie is just straight up saying we should all become women.

Bertrand Mandico clearly views gender as a very fluid concept that transcends simple behaviors and physical features, as proven by his other two movies. I don’t think he’d make a movie that flat out says something so simple and dumb about gender. Idk man maybe I’m just coping lmao.

A film more homoerotic than The Lighthouse. Everything you would want from an art house film that is queer and tries to have a semi-coherent storyline. While it doesn’t have a manifesto it specifically professes, the film has imagery and themes that would make most uncomfortable and for that, I commend it.
