I hoped to love this like I loved Macbeth but unfortunately that was not the case. It just feels so strangely off, the scenery and lighting isn't as good as it was in Macbeth but mostly it's the editing that irks me. It feels random and confused and it took me out of it several times.
I try to ignore the fact that it's Orson Welles in brownface playing Othello but despite his performance being very good it did make me uncomfortable while watching

ive never given much effort to actually explore shakespeare’a works outside of school (other than sonnets) although the desire to was always present. but to explore welles’ obsession of shakespeare through his genius filmic adaptations is quite refreshing and new. ive never read othello, nor did i know anything about the story going into this film, but this film is a masterpiece, and ill proly read othello soon as the story itself was rly intriguing
