Guide: When Bergman arrived in Faro, something happened. It was love at first sight. Bergman was dazzled by the island's beauty. It was as if he had found his own landscape, one that already existed inside of him.
Even though I have not seen a Bergman film yet, I found a lot to enjoy with this film. The multi-narrative structure works well here, even if I was a tad confused on how they coincide at the film’s end. Vicky Krieps and Tim Roth are great here, and the overall direction and cinematography is incredibly warm and inviting.
Plus I have to give it props for the wonderful ABBA needle-drop.
