This was one of those experiences for me where I was really connecting with it but I just felt bad, I love this film, but it’s heartbreaking, not in a tear jerking way but rather it felt like a silent wave of emptiness was trying to find a way into my body.

Yoon Jeong-hee has one of the best most subtle-subliminal performances I’ve ever seen, she is incredibly talented.

I really don’t know why out of all films this was the one I decided to watch on my birthday but hey, at least it was really fucking good.

Such an amazing film by the great Lee Chang-Dong. He’s able to layer so many complex character and societal issues and weave them into a plot so intricately but also delicately at the same time, and I’m sure there’s even more issues that went over my head because I’m not Korean. Oasis by Chang-Dong is another example of this, I’ve never seen a director take on such deeply realistic and complex subject matters and problems embedded into society. He’s definitely a genius and one of a kind.
