An Underrated Gem.
Hard-hitting storytelling at its finest. Almost felt like watching real people on screen. The handheld cinematography adds so much realism to the film, and the casting is so well done throughout. The story and performances are the clear highlights. The young girl acts exceptionally well, especially in the heavier and more personal scenes. Abhishek Banerjee is phenomenal, I started hating his character from his very first scene, which is a testament to how convincing he is. Sushama Deshpande as Ajji is so confident and strong in her role.
Also love seeing women in lead roles, especially when they are up against a male villain. There is something so powerful about that dynamic.
The pacing is consistently on the slower side, but that is not a complaint. The themes and subject matter deserve that time to fully pull you in and make you feel the depth of the story. That said, some scenes could have been trimmed down as they felt slightly overexplained, which is not an attention span issue but just unnecessary extra time on certain moments.
Apart from that, this is a great watch with a great story and phenomenal performances.
