surprisingly i would say this was on par with the first movie if not a bit worse than the first. there’s a lot that this film does better but in the simple aspects it fails. the production side of things though are just amazing to see and i love the creativity behind it.
the production design is simple but its imitation of hell is pretty good. the designs of the demons are pretty damn cool. the cgi isn’t the greatest but they use fairly well especially with cgi blood which in most uses in other films it sucks. the first person pov isn’t as nauseating as the first film and the voice dubbing certainly got a bit better.
as much as there is a lot of more gore in this film, the kills just aren’t as exciting. the concept and plot feel pretty bland on screen like there’s a lot happening but not much feels that relevant for my enjoyment. although the production design is mind blowing for how low budget it is, the film still kinda felt pale in settings.
i’m very excited to see the third film in the franchise even though i thought these films were okay at best. but i love their use of gore and creative concepts that i keep wanting more. you can tell there’s passion behind these projects and they’re not trying to make this like shit even if it kinda is trash.
