back from a 10 day hiatus of (trying my best) to log something on letterboxd every single day!! a third of 2026 has passed and doing this challenge has changed the way i interact with this medium so much.

living in the cracks of society, finding your place in a world so insistent on conformity. we follow a group of teenagers, and their often harmful ways of coping with the pressures of existing in a world not built for them. metaphor and symbolism play a huge part in this story that’s not really narratively focused and more of a character study, with an optimistic message, telling the audience to continue living despite living on the river’s edge

it feels like i briefly dipped my hand into the life of these fucked up teenagers. idk i kinda liked the scatteredness of the plot

The cinematography in this is outstanding, and the filming style is absolutely gorgeous. I really loved the look of this movie it felt kind of special. Everything had a very homey and comforting vibe. And oh my god, when I saw the boy with the cats, my heart melted. Anytime I see a cat in a film, I immediately start to smile. Also, I don’t know why, but I love seeing old grandpas with little sweet dogs it’s just so cute. I’ve also heard that this film is based on a manga series, which I might check out! This film is incredibly good at capturing its characters’ emotions.
