"everything up until now feels more like a long dream. it was a really happy dream. i felt like i'd matured. but now i'm awake, and i... haven't changed at all."
this could’ve easily been a corny drama, with predictable troupes and a fairytale ending. but ryusuke hamaguchi subverts these ideas, injecting its characters with realistic sensibilities, to make an anti-romantic love story, that humanises mistakes, while making them live with their choices
