Not sure what specifically it was, other than the closeness in years, but I felt about this very much the way I felt watching Herbert Wise’s The Woman in Black. It’s consistently good and nothing distractingly bad happens. Well, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the superfluous sexual encounter towards the end. But other than that, the ending is when things really pop off. Its climax is pretty bleak with an extra twist for good measure. I wouldn’t rush to recommend this, but at the same time this would be my preferred proverbial “good ole fashioned time at the movies.”
