Chabrol might be great at creating mystery but lacks in suspense. Cop au Vin did almost not have any moments of anticipation - instead it just slowly flowed away and felt pretty calm throughout. Still, it was a fun watch, and inspector Jean Lavardin felt like a nice mix between Hercule Poirot's intuition and Dirty Harry's violent methods of investigation.
