Growing old is realizing that Miles was quite toxic 😬 Still love him, tho 😅😬
I love this story, these characters, the whole feel to this movie. The love that Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs have for their community of Oakland and how they keep advocating to preserve the local businesses, their culture and history against gentrification (especially after COVID) is truly beautiful. This movie still holds up with their 2 main messages - and if you want to see them tackle a little bit further about the prison-industrial complex and how it affects families, I couldn't recommend the TV show of the same name more. It has the same creative team behind it and a lot more Bay Area swagger.
Also, there's a "blink and you'll miss it" cameo from Jonathan Groff 😍😍 at the beginning and no matter how many times I've seen this movie, it always catches me by surprise 😅
