this is going to be a hot take but i think this movie was just as good as The Dark Knight. for some reason, this movie is slated as the weakest in the trilogy but i completely disagree. i found that this movie had a completely different vibe to it’s predecessors as it actually felt like a superhero movie, compared to being a masterpiece, which is what Nolan is known for making. when i watch a superhero movie, i personally watch for a fun time, rather than an Oscar-winning picture, but i feel like this movie had the perfect mix of both.
after watching a few breakdowns, there are quite a lot of noticeable plot holes, but i do genuinely think that this movie was the most “superhero” out of all of them. obviously, nothing will come close to beating Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker, and so The Dark Knight definitely impresses me more as the better movie, but this one has so much more rewatch potential - it feels more like a comfort film now. i think, if we ignore all the plot holes, this movie had the best plot, and i loved the introductions of Bane and Black Cat - i thought they were both really complex characters. the ending was phenomenal and i felt they tied up Bruce Wayne’s storyline perfectly.
an amazing way to send off this trilogy, and i genuinely don’t think it has a bad movie - if anything, they keep getting better. after watching all three, i can now admit that this is the best superhero trilogy of all time.
