Great start to an undeniable masterpiece of a saga. I do feel like the hobbit movies get bit too much hate especially when they came out. The hobbit was destined to fail if it had to stand up to the Lord of the Rings movies, they don’t but stand alone, the hobbit movies are still great. The unexpected journey does have a few flaws like that fact that the map was fatefully written the same day it needed to be read. That’s an easy cop out. The eagles pull a dues ex machina in this film as well which always irked me, don’t worry, I’ll talk about the eagles later in the saga. Other than that, there really isn’t much wrong with this one besides at times it’s a teeny bit slow, but that’s what I get for watching the extended edition. The troll scene is still my favorite here though.
