really conflicted on how I feel about this. On the one hand, while I was watching I felt disappointed. the CGI and effects were too off putting, depictions of black church culture too stereotypical, and I was too unconvinced by the romantic connection between Benjamin and Daisy. so there’s that. but on the other hand, I felt overwhelmed with emotion after finishing it and thinking more about it afterwards. It accomplishes a lot insofar as it begs the viewer to consider their own journey in reaching where they are now (whether it was backwards, forwards, or completely all over the place). still, I’m surprised this got 3 Oscars
quotable quote: “you never know what’s coming for you”
