Enola Holmes is a nice prelude to something bigger, it almost feels like a great pilot episode. Enola herself is a strong lead, engaging and genuinely entertaining to watch. The best thing about this movie is definitely the fourth-wall breaking, I found it really fun and on point every time, never once cringe.
The cinematography is solid but I think they missed a trick with the color grading. The fourth-wall breaking already plays with the idea that this is a story being told, so leaning into more vibrant, almost dreamlike colors would've made this movie very great.
I like how they handled Sherlock I expected him to be toned down to let Enola shine, but they kept him honest to the character and it works better this way, although this version of Sherlock is much less cynic.
The other problem i had with this movie is with Tewkesbury. He's not a bad character, but Enola is already compelling enough on her own. The love interest feels kinda like a forced narrative habit more than something the story actually needed.
