HAPPY TWIN PEAKS DAY!! I’ve had a wonderful and strange day so far full of coffee, cherry pie, good talks with friends, and of course, Twin Peaks!! I started off my marathon with a David Lynch short film: Laura Palmer. Then I watched a short documentary about the Palmer House. I followed that by watching this awesome little doc that showcases some behind the scenes footage of David Lynch working with Twin Peaks icons such as Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, Sheryl Lee, and many others while shooting The Return. The cherry on top in terms of my marathon, however, is going to be watching the first episode of Twin Peaks once I finish writing this very review. It will kickstart my first rewatch of the entirety of the Twin Peaks universe and I am super duper excited to walk back down the mysterious road that David Lynch and Mark Frost paved for the world to explore. As for this documentary, it’s pretty good!! David Lynch had an amazing way of directing his actors. The simple ways in which he was able to explain what he wanted them to do and how to do it is nothing short of magical. He also loved to use his hands. I still cannot believe David is gone and this Twin Peaks Day feels especially empty without him here. At least today is a day that allows us to not only celebrate the amazing television series that is Twin Peaks, but the creative genius of Lynch and his everlasting impact on cinema and art as a whole. Words can’t describe my love for Lynch, nor my excitement to watch Twin Peaks again. I hope everybody has a great rest of their day and I hope you all did something to commemorate Twin Peaks Day!!
