As i’m currently in the top end for work, Top End Wedding is on the watch list for today!
A feel good rom com with a Territory flair directed by Wayne Blair, and written by the star herself Miranda Tapsell.
Lauren (Tapsell) is a big shot lawyer, set to marry her beau Ned (Gwilym Lee), but wants to do so back home in Darwin. So far, so good right? Buuuut Mum Daffy (Ursula Yovich) has gone missing, leaving Dad (Huw Higginson) an 80s power ballads fuelled mess of tangled emotion. Lauren and Ned hatch a plan to track her, learning more than a few lessons about love, life and culture.
The story is nothing new, but the locale and vibe is absolutely fresh from a big screen perspective. The language of the Territory is all through out, it’s too hard not grin when you hear that first utterance of ‘Shame job’, it’s a movie that feels like home.
I’m getting gammon sentimental myself, shame job.
Miranda Tapsell has that total x-factor, gorgeous with an enthusiastic and irrepressible energy, like all good Rom com leads you can’t help but fall in love with her.
