Such an empathetic look at Timothy Treadwells’s life. Werner Herzog is so good at making documentaries and a subject like Timothy allows an unbiased look at how humanity and nature collide to be so beautiful yet tragic. That scene where Werner listens to Timothy’s last audio recording genuinely gave me goosebumps. 

“I think you should not keep it, you should destroy it. I think that's what you should do, because it will be the white elephant in your room all your life.”

Casually chilling with grizzly bears even today feels ludicrous, honestly a bit ridiculous. Whether you boil it down to stupidity, incompetence, or a “lack of respect”  is something I still can’t quite pin down. In the presence of one of the most dangerous apex predators, Timothy Treadwell is a fascinating figure. There’s a kind of delusion there, sure, but he also oozes character which isn’t me advocating or even agreeing with what he was doing, if you can even call it a “hobby” that is.

Det var som en berg-och-dalbana i humöret då man såg på den här. Mycket tungt, mycket lättsamt och otroligt mycket fina stunder...

Bandet mellan Timothy och björnarna är fascinerande, men bandet mellan han och rävarna var helt underbart. Hur dom blev som hans hundar där ute i vildmarken och att dom har träffats år efter år och byggt en vänskap. Väldigt vackert.
